Migration Amendment to Graduate Visa Regulations

The Migration Amendment (Graduate Visas) Regulations 2024 has introduced significant changes to the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) which closes the Skilled-Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476).

The Temporary Graduate Visa has been renamed Post-Vocational Education Work Stream. To be eligible it is now required that applicants hold an associate degree, diploma, or trade qualification related to their nominated occupation.

The change also includes a reduction to the age limit from 50 down to 35 years old, with the exception to specific passport holders and higher degree graduates.

The Post-Study Work Stream has been renamed Post-Higher Education Work Stream. The relevant changes to include ceasing the two-year extension for certain qualifications introduced after COVID, which will no longer be available from 1 July 2024.

The Subclass 476 Visa (Skilled Recognized Graduate Visa) is closed to all applicants from 1 July 2024 and is no longer available.
